Lifetime Fashion

April 2023

London Metropolitan University’s Fashion department presented an exhibition to showcase couture skills that re-define the production and appreciation of clothing.

The exhibition was presented at the old Boar’s Head Playhouse on Middlesex Street, and advocated for the importance of craft, skills, and the need to invest in multi-generational lifetime wear.

The showcased items demonstrated the craftsmanship that goes into well-made objects so that they can have more than one lifetime of use, and introduced key fashion skills: Pattern Cutting, Tailoring, Leatherwork, Corsetry and Draping.

The exhibition was sponsored by the Aldgate Community fund and invited people to choose a skill that they would like to learn more about, for workshops to be held later in the year.
