Petticoat Lane Dining Quarter

As a response to the pandemic, Aldgate Connect BID supported the collective of restaurants at the south of Middlesex Street through the implementation of an outdoor dining area in the cul-de-sac end of the road.

The project saw the street brightened with tables and chairs, picnic benches, larger planters, colourful barriers, gazebos, and signage, allowing visitors the al fresco dining experience.

The Petticoat Lane Dining Quarter activated the space through a series of events, including the World Music & Dance Festival, Beer Fest 2021, and Aldgate in Winter Festival 2021.

Aldgate Connect BID have completed a feasibility strategy for Middlesex Street South, looking at potential development of the area into a well-designed shared space supporting the local hospitality businesses, whilst also accommodating for vehicular usage, outdoor dining, and improved public realm. The BID continues to support the local authorities in their ambition for the area.

Members of the community came together and fed into the designs of fabric banners, which reflect upon the rich cultural heritage of the area.

Petticoat Lane Digital

Petticoat Lane Digital was a collaborative project between Aldgate Connect BID and the local authorities, stakeholders, businesses, and community to provide a digital presence for the area of Petticoat Lane.

Showpiece garments made from fabrics sourced on Wentworth Street were designed, made, and photographed by London Metropolitan University BA Fashion and Fashion Photography students.
