Lifetime Fashion Skills Workshop

Following the Lifetime Fashion exhibition, London Metropolitan University hosted a week-long workshop to introduce sustainable fashion skills chosen by people who had attended the exhibition.

Seven people with sewing experience reported that they wanted to learn fashion techniques in pattern cutting and draping. The techniques were introduced by a London Met graduate and a current student, to help participants design and make their own garment in calico.

All the workshop participants felt more confident in pattern cutting and draping skills and wanted to explore fashion skills and education further.

The workshop was funded by the Aldgate Connect Community Fund to meet UN Sustainable Development goals of Climate, Skilling and Education in relation to fashion and textiles.

Petticoat Lane Dining Quarter

As a response to the pandemic, Aldgate Connect BID supported the collective of restaurants at the south of Middlesex Street through the implementation of an outdoor dining area in the cul-de-sac end of the road.
